What is holistic counselling?
Holistic counselling recognises that emotional difficulties are held not only in our thoughts, but also in our nervous system and body.
In my work, holistic counselling involves a combination of thoughtful conversation and evidence-based approaches such as Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and HeartMath®. Clinical EFT is used intentionally to work with specific emotional responses, memories, and belief patterns, while gently calming the body’s stress response.
This allows emotional intensity to reduce at a physiological level, not just through insight or understanding. As a result, change can occur even when talking alone hasn’t been enough, or when experiences feel difficult to put into words.
What kinds of issues can you help me with?
I work with people who are experiencing a range of emotional and relational challenges, including:
- Ongoing stress or anxiety
- Emotional overwhelm or feeling stuck
- Relationship challenges, including difficult or emotionally draining dynamics
- The effects of past or present trauma
Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, reactive, or unable to settle. In our work together, we use practical, evidence-based approaches that support emotional processing and nervous system regulation.
As emotional intensity reduces, people often find they feel more grounded and better resourced to respond to life’s challenges.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a complimentary 15-minute Discovery Call where you can briefly share what’s been going on for you, hear a little about how I work, and ask any questions you may have. This helps you decide whether working together feels like a good fit.
How long are sessions and how often do I need them?
Sessions are approximately 60 minutes. How often you attend depends on what you’re hoping to work on and the pace that feels right for you.
Some people notice changes within a few sessions, while others choose to work together over a longer period for ongoing support.
Are my sessions confidential?
Yes. Everything you share with me is treated as confidential and handled in line with professional ethical standards and New Zealand privacy laws.
There are limited situations where confidentiality cannot be maintained, such as when there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or where I am legally required to share information. These limits are explained in more detail as part of the intake process.
What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session focuses on what feels most present for you right now and what you’d like support with.
You will have space to share what’s been happening for you, at a pace that feels right. From there, we work with what’s coming up using evidence-based approaches such as Clinical EFT and HeartMath®, supporting emotional processing and nervous system regulation rather than relying on talking alone.
How do I book a session?
You can book directly through my website. It’s quick and secure, and you can choose a time that suits you. Some evening and limited Saturday appointments are available.
What are your fees and how do I pay?
Session fees are listed on the booking page. Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit/debit card.
If you’d like to meet me first and see whether working together feels right for you, you’re welcome to book a complimentary 15-minute Discovery Call by phone.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. I offer one-to-one sessions online throughout New Zealand and Australia, as well as in-person in Wellington, depending on the type of appointment you book.
Many people find online sessions convenient, as they allow you to attend from home. You can save travel time and costs while still receiving personalised support.
Where are you located?
I’m based in Wellington, New Zealand. I offer online sessions to clients across New Zealand and Australia, with international sessions by arrangement.
